Over Using Power Ups
I struggle to understand why people who have genuinely experienced psychedelic states feel the need to push for more or intensify that experience.
I don’t get those who exaggerate psychedelics. Especially when these individuals claim to have tons of psychedelic experience under their belts. I see people out there valuing DMT or similar powerful substances far more than they actually deserve. While I certainly do not dismiss their value entirely, I want to remind you how much everything we exaggerate becomes objectified within that very state we praise. I find the Buddhist tenet, "Without the observer, everything is empty inside," to be a remarkably accurate statement.
Especially so-called witches and wizards, with their myriad superstitions, objects of addiction, and rituals, are emptying the core of what they chase and dragging them down the wrong path. Good heavens, relying on DMT is even worse. To anyone who comes forward wanting to discuss this topic, I always say the same thing: The true ability lies within you. How cliché, empty, and boring does that sound? Yet, wasn't it exactly this that you wanted—to gain power through shortcuts via your "power-ups" and show off your magical abilities to others? Well, that works too, of course. After all, every road leads to that door. But my point is to offer a small warning about the many pitfalls where you will regret your choices before reaching that door.
You are the one who makes magic possible. You are the channel itself. Everything else is merely tools designed to convince you that it is possible. If you don't believe me, look at the alchemists of old. The stone they sought through futile experiments ultimately turned out to be an expression of their own personal evolution.
The strange part is that when I say "You are the channel," it feels not just boring but impossible. Because we constantly experience certain limits. We are within constraints. We cannot fly whenever we wish; we cannot control the aging of our bodies. I accept that the line of experience we are on has real boundaries. But this does not mean we cannot surpass them, nor that there are no things we can transcend. There is much more we can do than we think. And magic is precisely about breaking these assumptions.
To return to the example of DMT: I can tell you this very clearly. Without any external influence, without eating or drinking anything, using only the possibilities of your own existence, you can enter this state of mind. In fact, using this natural path would be far more effective and healthy. I also cannot understand anyone who would object to this. What else could be the mechanism of action of a substance you consume other than activating something already present within you? Do you really think the entire experience lies inside the substance you consumed? Thinking that would be even funnier.
Our consciousness resembles the spectrum of light more than a single specific state, or even different stops. You can open it fully, dim it slightly, or close it completely. The only issue is that doing so requires a certain kind of energy. This is what DMT, indeed all substances, provide. Each has different boosting effects on you. DMT gives a person incredible energy and allows you to change your perception very easily within seconds. You see a similar effect with LSD. But you need to put in a bit more of your own energy and quiet your mind. This applies to cannabis as well. The energy it provides is much less than DMT, but it is still significant, and with a little push from yourself, you can turn a cannabis experience into a surprising psychedelic journey. I am comparing this to doing it in a baseline state with only silence and focus. Normally, entering a DMT-like state by maintaining silence and focus without using anything can take hours, whereas DMT reduces this to seconds. That is the difference. Other substances have similar effects, but the energy they provide is much lower, and for example, ecstasy and some others work more on the body than the mind. If I must give a category, what you are struggling with and desiring each time is essentially breaking your mind's Default Mode.
But still, there are ways to shorten and facilitate this duration without using anything. And perhaps the most obvious of these, yet a state that people somehow refuse to engage with, is the dreaming state.
